Custom motors for Mining Vehicles

An OEM for a niche product market was looking for a company to partner with for various motor parts such as stator cores and rotors. Finding that partner was a challenge, but once LEESON started collaborating with the mining company, the relationship flourished.

Entrepreneurial companies, such as California-based, family-owned Hi Performance Electric Vehicle Systems (HPEVS), are engineering and manufacturing high-efficiency AC electric drive systems specifically for mining vehicles equipped to take the harsh abuse of the underground work environment.

HPEV collaborated with LEESON’s engineering team to build the drive system for emissions-free electric mining vehicles.

“LEESON is the only manufacturer to think outside the box and work with my company to help develop a viable design,” said Seymour when questioned about what led HPEVS to LEESON.

“I believe it is LEESON’s open-minded philosophy and willingness to work with small thriving OEM’s that enable us to secure business opportunities like this,” commented Wendy Bretschneider, Technical Support Supervisor for LEESON. “It is relationship and trust that allows LEESON to maintain and grow with HPEVS”.
Unique Electrical Design Provided by LEESON
A global valve actuator manufacturer was looking for a custom Torque Motor to fit in their IP67 housing.
Unique electrical designs were designed for high reversal torque applications. Applications vary between OPEN/CLOSE and modulating duty; watertight, submersible and explosion-proof locations and a wide array of control system interface requirements. The customer will specify wherever the automation of a valve requires multi-turn rotation, linear movement or a lever output.
Floor Scrubber Manufacturer Looks to LEESON for Motor Help
A floor scrubber/polisher manufacturer recently contacted LEESON for a custom American-made motor to replace his existing European-made motor. Requirements were stringent. The new motor design needed to meet high torque requirements, yet maintain low running amps to allow for use in household applications. The motor also required a unique metric mounting flange.

LEESON's rapid turn-around time, from quote to prototype, along with the product quality, were driving factors in selecting the LEESON motor for their equipment.

The president of the company, when demonstrating the final product to his potential customer, was so pleased with the motor's performance he actually sat on the floor machine to prove its toughness and quality.
This is an on-going engineering effort with our LEESON team, as we continually assist in developing new global technology and products, with this customer
